Taylor Plumbing Christchurch (part of Taylor Contractors, "we", "us" or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we collect it, why we collect it, and how we use and protect it. It applies to this website, our quote and contact forms, and lead forms we run on advertising platforms such as Meta, Snapchat, TikTok and other providers.

We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Personal information we collect

Depending on how you contact us, we may collect:

  • Your name (first and last name)
  • Your phone number and email address
  • Your street address or job location, and your suburb or region
  • Details of the work you need done, and any messages or photos you send us
  • Technical and usage information from your visit, such as pages viewed, approximate location, device type and how you found us (for example from an ad or search engine)

We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we do not collect sensitive information (such as health or financial details) unless it is directly relevant to a job you ask us to do.

How information is collected

We collect personal information when you:

  • Fill in a quote or contact form on this website
  • Call or text us, including calls handled through our call tracking system
  • Email us
  • Submit a lead form on an advertising platform, such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Snapchat, TikTok or other platforms we advertise on
  • Interact with our ads, or browse this website with analytics and advertising cookies enabled

Some information is provided directly by you. Other information (such as click data, ad identifiers and the fact that a lead came from a particular platform) is passed to us by the advertising platform or collected by analytics and tracking tools when you visit our site or click an ad.

Why we collect it

We collect personal information so we can run our business and deliver the services you ask for. Specifically, we collect it to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and provide quotes
  • Book, carry out and follow up on plumbing, drainage and gas work
  • Contact you about your job, including by phone, text or email
  • Measure which ads and pages bring us enquiries, so we can improve our marketing
  • Keep records as required by law, and for safety, quality and warranty purposes

How we use it

We use the information we collect to quote, schedule and complete work; to communicate with you about your job; to send your enquiry details into our customer management system; and to understand how people find and use our website.

Enquiry details such as the service you selected, your region and how you reached us (including ad click identifiers) may be attached to your enquiry so our team can see where it came from and call you back quickly.

Marketing and customer communications

If you give us your contact details, we may use them to contact you about your enquiry, your booked job, or related services you have asked about. Where we send marketing messages (for example about offers or seasonal services), we will only send them to people we believe are happy to hear from us, and every marketing message will include a clear way to opt out.

You can ask us at any time to stop marketing communications by replying to the message or emailing info@taylorplumbingchristchurch.co.nz. Asking us to stop marketing does not stop job-related communication about work you have booked.

Lead information received from advertising platforms

When you submit a lead form on an advertising platform such as Meta, Snapchat or TikTok, the platform passes your form responses (for example your name, phone number, email address and the service you asked about) to us so we can contact you. We also receive information about which ad or campaign the lead came from.

Those platforms have their own privacy policies and handle your data as the controller of the lead form itself. We use the information they pass to us only to respond to your enquiry and manage our advertising, in line with this policy. If a lead form on one of those platforms has its own privacy notice shown at the time you submit, that notice also applies to how the platform collects the information.

Cookies, analytics and tracking

This website uses cookies and similar tools to understand how visitors use the site and to measure our advertising. These may include:

  • Analytics: Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, which help us understand which pages are viewed and how people move through the site.
  • Advertising and conversion measurement: tags from platforms such as Google Ads, Meta, Bing, TikTok and others, which let us measure enquiries that come from our ads and show relevant advertising to people who have visited our site.
  • Call tracking: a call tracking service that lets us see which ads and pages generate phone calls. Calls may be recorded for quality and training purposes.
  • Click identifiers: values such as UTMs and ad click IDs that tell us which campaign or ad brought you to us.

Some of these tools set cookies in your browser. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and advertising platforms offer their own opt-outs (for example Google Ads settings and platform-specific ad preferences). Blocking cookies may limit some features of the site, but you can still browse and contact us.

Service providers we may share data with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers and platforms that help us run our business, including:

  • Our website hosting and content delivery providers
  • Our customer relationship management (CRM) and lead management system, where enquiry details are stored and our team follows them up
  • Our analytics, advertising and call tracking providers named above
  • Communication providers we use for email, text messaging and phone systems
  • Trusted subcontractors or partner trades, where they need your details to carry out work you have booked

These parties process information on our behalf or as part of delivering their own service to us, and are bound by their own privacy and security obligations. We may also disclose information where required by law, or to protect our rights, safety or property.

Data storage and security

We store personal information in secure systems, including our CRM and hosting providers, some of which may be located outside New Zealand. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure, including access controls and limiting the information our team can see to what they need to do their job.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by law (for example records relating to completed work), after which it is deleted or de-identified.

Access, correction and deletion requests

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct anything that is wrong. You can also ask us to delete your personal information in some circumstances.

To make a request, email us at info@taylorplumbingchristchurch.co.nz or call 021 195 9943. We may need to confirm your identity before releasing information. We will respond within a reasonable time, and there is no charge for making a request.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
